Jerry,

It was truly a blessing when I located your website on my computer. We had this rather serious problem with the interior mantle of our large stone fireplace. My wife and I noticed several months ago that the top of the interior rock mantle, which was over 7 feet high and nearly 6 feet wide, weighing nearly 4 tons, was leaning at the top as though it was going to fall into the living room. At the top, the separation of the mantle away from the wall was over 4 inches, tapering down to the bottom. We had several "experts" come look at the problem and we soon learned that when our house in Broken Arrow was constructed in 1974, the masoner did not install any type of masonry wall ties to keep the interior mantel locked to the supporting wall.

After learning about the problem, we supported the leaning mantle with crisscrossed cargo straps hooked to anchor eyebolts installed into the header at the top of the wall. We then began a search for a qualified masoner to take down the existing mantle, put it back in its original beautiful condition or better, and properly secure it to the supporting wall. For months we could not get any qualified masoner to respond. Then I discovered you, Jerry, "The Tulsa Bricklayer" on your website, by using Google.

Well, I want everyone to know what a find you truly were, how you promptly responded and sized up the problem. You assured us you knew what the problems and solutions were and you gave us a priced proposal on the spot, which was fair and reasonable. We had seen pictures of your handiwork on your website and we had every confidence in your skills. We were not proved wrong in our assessment. You started work two days later by putting down protective plastic sheeting and heavy plywood to protect our beautiful carpets and in a few days, the mantle was taken down and put back up as before, supported by many commercial-grade rock ties connected to the wall. We were also impressed that you kept the mess to a minimum and cleaned up the site every day.

Our repaired fireplace mantle looks better than it did before and is now totally secure. We intend to recommend you to everyone we know who needs brick or rock work. Thanks again for a job well done.

Best regards,

Hey, Jerry,

Elaine and I should have sent this letter to you months ago to let you know how happy we are with the patio that you built for us last September.  It's been way to long and we apologize for being so tardy.

I remember watching and photographing you as you worked.  Elaine and I are every bit as impressed with the results now as I was with the care and precision that you put into every aspect of the patio.

Part of the area used to be wet and "swampy" before you went to work.  Now, whenever it rains  ALL of the water runs off the patio and finds it's way to our drainage ditch and out to the curb.  No puddles.  None.  That's quite a feat for such a large patio; it is the biggest in our entire neighborhood.  Since I took the photographs I have provided them here so your visitors may enjoy them and even see your work in person by visiting my home.  The photos are here: Broken Arrow Cartwright Patio.

The piers were formerly just two round steel supports for the roof covering the small original cement block patio.  They were ugly, but not anymore.  You even finished the tops of the piers beautifully, with excellence, precision and a great eye for design.  Our neighbors, friends and family have all given the highest praise for your work.  We must tell you that we agree with all of that but are also pleased that you were so very easy to work with.

We're hoping to have you build a "water feature" in our backyard small animal "habitat" within the next few months and are eager to hear your design ideas.

Lastly, I would be happy to recommend you to anyone.  Elaine and I will be available to show the patio to visitors and/or to share our experiences in person or by telephone (918)-355-5054.

With Sincere Thanks,

Hugh & Elaine Brecher,
